Sometime in the last few months there was a post on Iran Air and Mahan Air (in Iran) receiving new aircraft from Airbus. I was wondering if there have been any updates on these airlines. Have they received any of these aircraft, or will they in the near future. I'll probably be flying on Iran Air this summer from LHR to THR. So it would be cool to ride on an Iran Air A-340. Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

I personally have some a mediocre attempt to keep up but haven't heard any news on this issue. But I highly doubt anything will happen by this summer. Your flight will probably be operated by a Boeing 747.

Any of the IR's widebodies can be used on any of their European routes. The usual aircraft on THR-LHR-THR route is the 747 (100B or 200Combi). I flow the route twice in 2003 and all four flights were on the 747. Some A330 are being sent to IR shortly via Blue Wings. That's the latest I know.

Yeah,

Iran Air kinda have a pattern on their flight into heathrow. Usually during the summer they operate the 747's and on the Saturday flight, they have only during the summer period, operate the SP. So if your an SP fan kinda enquire and it might be worth going on a Saturday !!!

Also about the A330's it seems to again be a non starter though the md-90 rumour thing was not all false, as bizarrely enough through watching an iranian sports show showing their naitonal football team arrive in Kish Island for a football camp, it clearly showed a Kish Air MD-90 in full colours !!!

Hopefully (for the millionth time) will see homa on some new jets tails soon. If anyone has any info about the A330s please share ???

Cheers

Amir

Would be interesting to see the outcome of the recent "Carrots & sticks" talks over the Iranian situation after GW's visit to EU. If they use economic incentives for Iran to abandon its nuclear ambitions. I think it is possible that one of those incentives can definitely be Irans civil aviation fleet renewal. Although if such thing happens, I wonder if they'll go for Boeing, or Airbus? My guess would be Airbus (Only becauae EU seems to have closer ties) , but I think 777s would look really nice in IR scheme.

Well the link below is the iran air website, does anyone have an older fleet. I was even under the impression that they still used the 707s.
