No-frills Air One to take wings in May
Air One –– another Bangalore-based airline –– is gearing up for operations on non-trunk routes this summer with leased 50-seater Embraer ERJ 145 aircraft.
Air One has decided in favour of the middle path. The low-cost airline will serve only snacks and cold-drinks on board, but that would be complimentary service and passengers need not pay for the facility, Air One managing director Dr J W Lobo told ET.
The airline will operate on non-trunk routes and is looking at Delhi-Thiruvananthapuram service, one of the longest routes in the domestic sector. The ERJ 145, fitted with Rolls Royce engines, will take three hours and 20 minutes for a flight on the sector, he added.
Air One has hired a number of ex-Indian Airlines hands like former finance director R N Saxena and former operations director Capt P Chaudhari. http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1034963.cms

At the moment the passengers coming to Trivandrum from Delhi have to relay on the IC or 9W and have to travel via Mumbai. It must be easier for them if the have a direct flight from Delhi to Trivandrum.
Yeah - but how many are these pax? Definitely nowhere near 50 day, more likely close to 25-30 if you have a good day! And much less when parliament is not in session and when the Congress high command is in one the "I am bored with factionalism" moods which they seem to be in right now (viz a viz kerala).
Quoting B747-437B (reply 5): With that kind of ERJ stage length, I'm surprised Gordon Bethune isn't part of the management team!
For the route in question, the board should have not Mr Bethune, but a certain former chief minister of the southern state ! After all you need traffic don't you!
