Not surprising. Will the B Zone at SXF be extended for U2 ? It's not that big, especially airside, and when I went through there it was almost standing room only.

They will be flying to LIN not MXP.

dBA tried Tegel-LGW for one season, but the fares were quite high, hope U2 is more successful with SXF-LGW.

SXF is getting some 6 new gates terminalside with jetways, as an interim measure until BBI opens. Nonetheless, some experts predict it will only be a few months before the new terminal is as crowded as the rest.

I remember flying Virgin Express SXF-LGW four years ago - what happened there? They stopped flying to Berlin altogether, and also to the UK if I'm not mistaken. Why couldn't London-Berlin work? Isn't Ryanair flying between these cities now?

I scratch my head, therefore I am.

Yes...I flew Ryanair SXF-STN last July. Only problem with STN is that it's way the hell out of town. STN is a nice airport, but still...

SXF-LGW would be great...wish I had that option last July.  Insane

Great news for EZY at SXF... however, being from DTM, I keep wondering, if there will be any news from EZY regarding our airport. There haven't been any new services since the inauguration of our mini base (3 aircraft) in July 2004.

I would also like them to fly some new and more "exciting" routes out of DTM.
 Smile

MLA is on top of my list, but that ain't gonna happen for a LONG time, if ever. LIS would be nice, too. Or maybe OSL...

Where have all the tri-jets gone...

It takes between 40 and 45 minutes to reach Liverpool Street, from where you can go anywhere on the Tube. It takes less time to Tottenham Hale, from where you can connect with the Tube.

From LGW, it takes 30 minutes to reach Victoria Station, from where you can go anywhere on the Tube.

Hardly a big difference.

Actually Stansted is only a whole 6 miles further from central London than Gatwick (STN 34m, LGW 28m). Of course it depends where you're starting out from, but it seems that for many, that extra 6 miles up the M11 is a heck of a distance!

Geographically true, however.... LGW is stuck in the middle of nowhere in genteel rural more-tea-vicar Sussex, whereas STN is stuck in the middle of nowhere in ghastly white-BMW-driving Essex. It makes all the difference in the world  Smile

Oh, and only the newTerminal building of stansted is in Essex. The old terminal is in 'beautiful' Hertfordshire.

And of course BA is serving LHR from TXL. Sounds like tough competition.

Easyjet are already doing the LON-BER route of course. They started flying from Luton in May 2004. I was on one of the first flights for a bargain £30 covering a long weekend. Meant plenty of spare euros for the beer in Berlin !
