Hi,
I've been lurking in this forum for quite a while now, and really enjoying it, but now I have a question that has brought me out of the shadows... I hope it is appropriate for this forum. Is there an orbitz-like site for booking flights within europe? I am trying to get between geneva and athens as cheaply as possible this august.

I can tell you for sure that sites like opodo do NOT take US credit cards. So don't bother trying them. My favorite falls in the same category.
Expedia.com should be able to give you pretty good deals though and they trouble you because of your credit card.

French meta-search engine for flights, agregates results from 8 partnersites, including opodo (above) and many others. Often shows the same flight at 4 different rates from four differrent brokers and sorts by price

Expedia.com or ebookers.ch should do it for you.
The cheapest one I found (random search for two dates in Aug 2005) were:
- KLM (316USD) arriving to ATH at either 0:15am or 2:00 am
- MALEV booked through ebookers for US$355 has much more convenient afternoon arrivals (15:50).

Hi,
Thanks a lot everyone. Too bad it's a bit expensive (by my standards). Just a word to the wise, if you are booking flights using Delta Skymiles or AAdvantage miles book EARLY. I'm trying 6 months in advance, and can't get anything to ATH on either.

I agree. It is too late now to book awards between North America and Europe for the summer - at least the sAAver awards in economy. I wanted to visit my folks in AUS using my AA miles but waited too long and now there is no availability.

Try europebyair.com. Its a great low-fare option for travelling within Europe. $99 bucks one-way between almost any cities. You MUST book BEFORE you leave for Europe as you tickets will be provided to you via mail before you leave. I used this to get from Venice to Barcelona several years ago for $99 bucks on Alphi Eagles Airlines and it was a great flight.....meal on a 1.5 hour flight, cheap, and beat the hell out of 24 hours on a train!
