There was a recruitment ad in yesterday's news papers - the blurb goes "Something special is in the air - Paramount Airways aims at providng a world-class experience to passengers in the Indian skies. A fleet of ultra-modern jet aircrafts and a truly promising future awaits you. We are recruiting candidates for the following positions, to be based at Coimbatore."

Followed by requirements for Trainee Captains, Senior Co-pilots, Co-pilots, Cabin Crew & Engineering. Also Customer service/ marketing/ reservations/ operations/ security/ finance/ HR/ IT/ Catering/ Secretarial & other depts.

Anyone heard about this venture?

Support Airliners.net - become a First Class Member!

I think this is another regional jet carrier like AirOne.

Whe I first saw Paramount I thought one of my favourite UK 80s charter airlines was coming back! Those MD83s were great.

Yeah
Air One and now Paramount. Indian start ups dont seem to be too imagniative, as far as naming goes....!

Think that way, neither I guess was Jet Airways. Wasn't there something similar sounding, down in OZ in the early 1990s?

If anything, I'd say the more the merrier. I mean, it's not public money they're taking to get started, so if someone has a couple of spare millions and a fancy for airlines, let him/her start up an airline by all means. In the end only the best will be around, with the junk having burnt out their money/fingers. It's going to need a lot of players/aircraft to increase the momentum in the industry. Plus it's going to help keep existing players on their toes (though some never learn  Smile)

This link to the Wednesday's TOI Ascent (Bangalore edition) should bring up the ad directly. From the drawing/rendering of the aircraft in the ad, it seems like a smaller RJ type of aircraft. A search for the name on google does not throw up any links to a coimbatore entity (but it does to a british airline with the same name)

An airplane might disappoint any pilot but it'll never surprise a good one.
