It says that BMI has lost business pax from LHR and is therefore reviewing it's operation there.

What can we expext?

For me it is no wonder that they lost business passengers because looking at their European network, it became more and more leasure orientated. On the continent they only have several flights to CDG, BRU and AMS while MAD, LIN, VCE and NAP are served once daily.

BMI broke even last year in the middle of what was a bad period with fuel costs rocketing. It makes sense that they should retrench routes which are not performing and concentrate on those which make them money.

The regularly served shorter routes in particular connect into their Star partners and other non-Star codeshares, whereas others don't seem to perform as well in the feeder role. Cutting back on some lossmakers will only free up aircraft and hopefully assist the move into profitability again.

BD does well on its shorthaul/UK services as a feeder for airlines such as VS. Italian passengers or those from Madrid might not want a two hour sector before they get on board a VS longhauler. Same for MH GF and others.
