I saw a Southern Air 747 parked out at the open spots at YVR today and I have never seen such a plane. Is this like a charter airline? And also, there was a distance from me to the plane and can anyone confirm if this was a 747-SP or a 747-200B? Are there several popular destinations that they fly to because it was my first time to see them at YVR and taking into factor that its not really tourist season, YET. I am just interested. Especially if that was an SP, I would be thrilled.

It is actually a Cargo Airline. That is all I know about it, but I see it often in the NW region.

It's a 200. They have an all-200, all-GE-powered fleet. The fleet is around 4 aircraft. They are the successor to the old Southern Air, formerly the infamous Southern Air Transport, formerly "connected" to the Central Intelligence Agency, for whom it did a lot of work. They used to fly C-130s as well. The current company is just a contract freight carrier with the fleet mentioned above. So are they a US based airline? It was nice seeing a classic 747 because JL converted their 743/742 service to YVR to a 744 back in October of last year. Do you have any information as to where that flight actually came from? Baltimore? Or somewhere in Asia? And sorry, I couldn't find info on the wesite because I kept searching in Japanese.
