American Eagle Flight Numbers

I have noticed that American Eagle has 2 sets of flight numbers that are identical. Doesn't this create confusion in operations and dispatch and ticketing? Why do they do this.

For example, EGF4 is an ATR72 that operates FLL-NAS while EGF4 is also a Saab 340 that operates LAX-SBP.

the FLL NAS flight is probably 4004 and the LAX SBP flight is 3004. When Eagle flights are called out by ATC on the radio they are EGF Eagle Flight and the last 3 numbers of the flight. Thus it would be 004 so they just call it EGF4. Hope this helps!

They also use the numbers in different sectors to avoid confusion. For example one may be completed within the ZFW(?) [Fort Worth] and ZOB [Cleveland] areas in the morning while the other is completed within the ZOB [Cleveland] and ZNY [New York] areas in the evening.
