Hi all....

I'm flying Frontier for the first time on March 22. Can anyone let me know what to expect in the way of in-flight service and food (snack)? I understand they have Direct TV, but you have to pay $5 for it? Does anyone think this is worth it? Also, is 40 minutes enough to connect at DEN? The flight numbers are 239 (BNA-DEN, 6 am dep.) and 771 (DEN-LAS, 8:25 am dep.).

I'm usually a WN kinda guy, but this time I thought I'd try something different.

Thanks in advance.

Frontier is a great little airline! The $5.00 is very much worth the money for Direct TV. You will like Frontier way over Southwest.

40 minutes is more than enought time to connect in DEN.

THANK YOU FOR FLYING NORTHWEST AIRLINES, WE TRULY APPRECIATE YOUR BUSINESS!

Thanks, NWAFA.

Can anyone tell me if I should take something to eat on board with me or will there be any type of food on board?

Thanks again.

Hello!!

Direct TV is well worth it! Cruising at 35,000 feet and watching whatever you want really is a nice thing! News, weather, sports, and the list goes on.

Frontier usually serves a snack, sometimes bagels with cream cheese in the mornings. Doritos and Sunchips on later flights. I would suggest if you are hungry, perhaps bring a sandwich or something to hold you over.

As far as comparing Frontier to Southwest.... There is no comparison.

WN has great entertainment. I love staring at the back of a seat. Sometimes you get the chance to see a few heads bobbing during turbulence. I have read the emergency card about 47 times on a 2 hour flight. I also love jumping over seats and pushing people out of the way to get a good seat.

Frontier has a great program called Early Returns. Only 15,000 miles gets you a free roundtrip domestic ticket. Once you reach that level, you get free TV, and priority boarding, and priority check in. Once you fly 25,000 miles, you earn free travel into Mexico. Ahhhhh, the beaches of Mexico. You also move up to the next step on the Early Returns Program, which includes free TV, drinks, priority check in, preferred seating, and additional bonuses. It is a great frequent flyer program, and you can sign up on the internet, and get bonus miles!!!

The aircraft are awesome! Seats are very comfortable on the new Airbus, and the atmosphere is very nice.

Welcome Aboard!

Just an FYI for you. . .

F9 is down to just 4 733s; the rest of the fleet is, of course, 37 A319s and 7 A318s. . .for a grand total of 48 a/c.

Do you know what a/c are scheduled on your flights?

Assuming BNA is coming out of BNA, there is no chance of a Boeing aircraft. Unless I am completely wrong about their fleeting.

Frontier is very nice. Aircraft and crews are great.

Show me the money ... er, profits. There's a big difference.

FWIW, WN will also now get you to Denver with ATA's codeshare, if you want to stay a WN guy.

Thanks for all the replies.

DIA:
From what I gather, I'll be flying 319's. My first time on F9 will also mark my first time on Airbus equipment.

And Qwerty:
I am departing from BNA.

A couple of firsts...I can't wait.

Comparing profits against WN would be unfair. WN is a giant, and they have lots of money of course.

For the overall experience a passenger recieves, the comparison is huge.

WN also has more seniority when it comes to operating. F9 is still a baby, just over 10 years old. I think we will see F9 blossom, and become a solid competitor. Frontier has the room to fine tune an already wonderful product.

I am not talking badly about WN. I am comparing the differences in service.

Which, I'll step in now, and tell you that there is no comparison when it comes to service. . .F9 wins by a mile. . .or a few at that!  stirthepot  Don't know about you, but I'd rather enjoy my time on the flight doing business or enjoying the sights, sounds, PTV, or just napping. . . .not singing silly songs and playing pin the tail on the FA's butt. . .then again, that's just my opinion. Other pax love it. . .and to them, there is Southwest.  yes

Frontier all the way, G'Day!

I think most of the responses have hit it right on the mark. The one thing with DirectTV is that it is $5 each segment, however it does make a difference. If you do not pay for it, there is also Wild Blue Yonder on the screens, for that 6am departure I personally would be sleeping most of that flight.

One thing that you will find is that you will be offered the whole can of juice or soda, with a flight attendant coming around later in the flight to see if you would like something else especially on the longer BNA-DEN flight. Upon arrival in Denver you will be able to see the Zoo, with all of the Frontier planes and critters hanging out at Concourse A. The 8:30 - 9:00 AM timeframe is a full wave of flights, so there will be plenty different tails there.

You will get a snack on both legs of your flights, and having a flight going to Vegas they may play the dollar game. It has been since last August that I was in Vega$ on Frontier. I will say that if they do, fold your dollar in half as that is what I have seen come out of the bag more often than not, which includes one of mine on a flight to LA once.

Lastly, I switched over to Frontier about two years as my main choice out of Denver and with the service from the check-in counter to my destination it pains me when I have to fly someone else. Those nicely warmed bagels on Monday mornings heading out West sure did hit the spot when I was flying weekly last year.

Yup, that dollar game rocks! I did not have a dollar when I last flew to Vegas, and I had a gut feeling. I was in 12F, and the guy in 12A one! He won over $160! That was actually one of the best flights to Vegas!
