Argentine radio reported this morning over an incident affecting an American Airlines flight (AA908) to Miami from EZE. Apparently the aircraft had to abort the take-off run.

I looked on local newspapers and TN Noticias but they do not yet report over this incident. Anyone has some more details?

Checking the airport website (Aeropuertos Argentina 2000) you can see the following flights that left with delay, at 3AM probably after the aircraft was removed from the runway:

American AA908 Miami 22.55 Cancelled (the incident flight)

Aerolineas Argentinas AR1130 Madrid 22.10 Departed 3.00
Air Europa UX042 Madrid 22.15 Departed 2.55
Cubana CU361 Varadero/Havana 22.30 Departed 3.41
Delta DL100 Atlanta 22.45 Departed 3.20
Aerolineas Argentinas AR1302 Miami 23.15 Departed 3.03
Aerolineas Argentinas AR1181 Auckland/Sydney 23.59 Departed 3.41

Greetings,

Lima

My brother-inlaw who works MX at MIA called to ask If I heard about it, He said that the word is thet she blew an engine on takeoff and the pilot slamed her back down........? The FAA should have an early report out soon.

A serious engine fire on take-off. 5 injuries during the evacuation. Aircraft was probably a 767. Just under a month ago, my mother had a nasty experience crossing the North Atlantic on an AA B767, from JFK-LHR. The pilots reported smoke in the cockpit well into the oceanic crossing. All lights and electrical systems were switched-off, the pax were briefed for an emergency landing, and thankfully the aircraft was able to divert safely to Gander, Newfoundland, where it landed without incident 1h40 later. Aircraft took 8 hours to repair before porceeding to its final destination.

Just me or are AA's 767s heavily used?

Saludos,

ZXV

Well, seeing as they're the backbone of their non-LHR destined Atlantic fleet, you might say so.

That incident was a 777. AA no longer uses 767's to LHR. All LHR flights system wide are using 777 equipment.
