My sisters flew on AC2141 YYZ-YYC last night. When I arrived at YYC at their planned arrival time (23:45),there was no sign on the arrival boards of AC2141,but there was a AC141 YYZ-YYC. They never arrived on AC141. While waiting ,I noticed quite a few other people looking for missing passengers.I also noticed a growing line of at least 40 passengers off AC141 at the baggage claim office who were missing their bags. After some confusion I found out there was a AC2141 arriving in YYC .It was delayed 1 1/2 hours due de-icing.Strangely AC and the airport authority were unable to add the flight to the arrival screens . The flight finally arrived at 01:15.Sure enough ,their bags never made it. Neither did about 50 other passengers bags ! The baggage carousel however was full of earlier flights bags. We joined the long line at baggage claim ,and finally left the airport at 02:45 am. My sisters checked in 2 1/2 hours before their departure time. They had 3 gate changes while waiting . AC141 also had several gate changes . Having two similar flight numbers both departing at similar times, both with several gate changes apparently caused lots of confusion in the terminal.

Update: Finally picked up the bags at 8:30 pm tonight. We had to search through 200+ bags that mis-connected. The majority of them were on their way out the the Mountain resorts .There were also dozen of ski bags. Nice going ,AC YYZ.

Sounds like an unfortunate hassle. But given the state of things, I think we ought to cut the (remaining) Canadian carriers a little bit of slack for the next few weeks. It must be a little overwhelming at the moment.
