This was the first CDG terminal. It was a revolutionary design, but has been, like most things, scandalously let go by ADP (Paris airports auth.). There is a renovation plan under way, but this terminal is only used by foreign carriers and is not the priority. It COULD easily be so much better...
When all's said and done, there'll be more said than done.

Quoting TAP1972 (Thread starter): I found it confusing, ugly, not very user friendly, small and overall it looked like a bunker
you forgot to mention that it is dirty, smelly and that many things - elevators, doors, lights - aren't working and that there is garbage and leftovers, building materials, old broken chairs, etc lying all over the place.
I agree that compared to LIS Paris T1 is far behind (I don't know DUB), but it's also far behind HEL,ARN, OSL, BGO, CPH, AMS, BRU T3, LUX, HAM, FRA,DUS, STR, MUC, ZRH, NCE, MAD, BCN, IST, FCO, MXP, BEY, SIN, HKG, PVG, YUL, BOS, IAD and so on........ It's actually the worst "big" airport in the world.

But Terminal 2 is different from Terminal 1. I have little experience with Paris airports. I have been once in ORY and liked it (this was about 8 years ago) and I have been on transit from Luanda to Lisbon (with AF) in Terminal 2. The terminal looked very nice, the only problem I had was that my luggage arrived to Lis on the following 2 flights.

Hello, I was also at CDG on Saturday. It is an ugly, complicated, outdated airport (not only terminal 1, also 2). And parkings for cars are extremely expensive. Compared to that BRU or BCN are really heavens. Regards

According to a recent press release available in French on the Aéroports de Paris web site (www.adp.fr) , current renovation work, lasting into 2008, will bring CDG1 to the level of the most recent CDG2 terminals ie 2E and 2F. It also states that all Star Alliance airlines will move to CDG1 before the end of 2008, the last ones being AC and OS. (not a good thing for my flights to VIE / LOWW), Austria">VIE, if I have to switch between CDG1 and CDG2 depending on the operating carrier). On the other hand, the VAL will be operating and there is still some time, 3 years, for plans to change.
