What airports are under going a major overhaul. Here at MSP things are starting to change. I heard that the observation deck might be turned into a fitness center. I hope that this isn't the case as people can watch the E, D, C, B, A gates. Other changes are taking place in Northstar crossing. Many new restaurants will be added.

For DL we just opened the new BOS terminal and ATL and JFK are in work. I think AA is also redoing their JFK terminal. Atl is also constructing an new international terminal. Not much can be seen yet of it though. They are still working below grade level.

Asmtrd,
I heard that airlines not affiliated in some way with NW (Sky Team?) will be moving to the HHH Terminal. I've looked at the expansion plans for both terminals on the airport's website. Pretty impressive.
At PHX Sky Harbor, a new south concourse for WN opened last week.

At STL-
A new Chili's is opening up soon in the A Concourse. A Brooks Brothers is apparently in the works but last time I was there didn't see when/where they are building it.
A third runway is expected to be completed......well......yeah
In other news....a new Starbucks has opened at the end of the jetbridge for the C2 gate....and work on the new JetBlue terminal is progressing well.

AA at JFK is coming along. The satellite is inform so it is inside work for now and outside work on the bigger building. B6 has their hangar pretty much done at JFK (but that isn't considered a terminal but it is B6 updates at JFK and not much at T5 yet. I guess it is still planning and setting up.

MIA is also. They are building a super councourse for AA and partners. But it is difficult task because they are building it where AA flys now. Also new councourse J is being built and should be up and running in maybe a year.

I guess it depends on where in ATL you are looking. I just flew AirTran this past week to LAS and Terminal C at ATL is disgusting. That carpet has probably been there since 1975.

SEA has been under construction with the building of A terminal for a few years now...every time I think it's got to be done soon, there's more plywood hallways put up.
For a stretch during the last 12 months or so, it was to the point where I'd fly in and out every 3 days, and each time I went through the airport, the temporary plywood hallways (to hide you from the construction) would have changed shape and direction. It was VERY disorienting since I am quite used to the airport at this point.
All they needed was the pinata...

Terminal 1 at YYZ is undergoing redevelopment I guess you could say. They've torn down the original T1 and have opened a new T1 with another concourse ready to be opened in the coming years.

Quoting WILLIAM (Reply 15): Why is T2 at Heathrow being torn down?
Not exactly sure, but it is a bit ancient, I actually work in T2 and the ramp is very limited for parking of equipment (as is most of the airport) and some of the stands are very tight.
T2 only has 14 bridged stands, although there are 2 or 3 stands on the europier at T1 that can be used for T2 handlers.
T2 was the first terminal built, then everything else was built around it. so maybe they will spread it out a bit.

For some reason I thought DFW and/or AA were refurbishing terminals A & C at Dallas/Fort Worth. Does anyone have any information to back this up or I am just dreaming?

Although already mentioned, not much was said. DTW is undergoing a complete renovation. After the airports 4th parallel runway was built allowing for 4 simultaneous landings, the McNamara terminal was build. Now, the McNamara terminal concourses B and C are being expanded, and the smith and Davey terminals are going to be demolished while a new North Terminal will be built. Along with that, the Berry Terminal will also be demolished. By completion, DTW will be one of the most efficient and state of the art airports in the world. I have a feeling that DTW will grow very fast. I am not biased, just my honest opinion.

What about all the orange cones all over the A concourse at DTW. Looks like the roads in Michigan aren't the only surface that has potholes.

The carpeting in Concourse C at ATL couldn't have been there since 1975. The new terminal comples opened in the early 1980s.
ORD is installing new canopies on the fronts of Terminals 2 and 3. They will extend over the first 2 lanes of traffic.
The front walls of the terminals are being moved about 20 feet to meet the sidewalks. The baggage claims are being renovated, and the ticketing areas will then be remodeled and reconfigured.

To be exact, ATL generation III opened on 23 Sept., 1980. Basically, the gaudy bad taste 70's ran over into 1980 and 1981. The big hair 80's really didn't get under way till '82. So, your colors and design still had diarrhea orange and brown as prominent colors. Concourse C and D at ATL have taken a lot of use and abuse and therefore, their facelifts were welcome. Also, new HVAC systems were installed. And, with smoking lounges throughout these terminals, the smoke also roaches out carpet, and other interior fixtures.
Notice that these threads look like the same color scheme as the outside of ATL on the ramp!
