Now that DL has abandoned this route, will AA (eagle) fill the void? They picked up in PNS (6x daily) and VPS (4x daily). I realize that VPS is a beach resort and has a military base there, but has anyone else noticed how much air service they receive? They have DL mainline, DL connection, NW mainline, USAIRWAYS express, AA eagle, COexpress. How can Tallahassee, which has a larger population, 2 MAJOR universities, and a state capitol have such limited service?

Limited service? Are you kidding? You know how many cities the size of Tallahasse would love to have non-stops to Miami, New York City, and Houston?
Back to the question, though, yes, American Eagle is looking at starting service to Tallahasse, not only from Dallas, but maybe Miami too.

I guess I should have re-phrased my question regarding the limited service. TLH has 1 airline currently running mainline jets, and that's DL TLH-ATL (mix of MD-88/738/732). VPS has DL (MD-88'S) to ATL and NW (DC-9's) VPS-MEM. They have 4x non-stop to DFW on AA (which TLH does not) and they have 3x VPS-IAH (on the larger erj-145's) and TLH only gets the erj-130's 2x a day. I guess some service is better than nothing, I just don't understand why TLH can't sustain more service? I would love to see UAexpress non-stop to ORD on the new ERJ-170'S
Speaking of more service, with all the buzz about FL starting new cities, I can only hope that TLH is reconsidered!

Yes, I have also noticed how much air service VPS / KVPS), USA - Florida">VPS receives, only about 45 flights a day, compared to PNS 90+ a day.
And does I think it's odd that VPS gets NW DC-9s to MEM. PNS was scheduled to get them, but the schedule changed.

US Airways Express doesn't serve VPS / KVPS), USA - Florida">VPS anymore. They once flew B1900's to/from PFN/TPA/MCO. AA Eagle isn't yet in VPS / KVPS), USA - Florida">VPS in till the start of the service in July.

Well, maybe because DL's DFW / KDFW), USA - Texas">DFW-VPS / KVPS), USA - Florida">VPS route generated more money for DL then DL's DFW / KDFW), USA - Texas">DFW-TLH / KTLH), USA - Florida">TLH route? (I don't know for sure, just a thought) Also maybe because VPS / KVPS), USA - Florida">VPS recently opened a completely new terminal, and room for another airline opened up. TLH / KTLH), USA - Florida">TLH has more flights and more passengers then VPS / KVPS), USA - Florida">VPS does.

also note that a lot of folks in Panama City and Bay county drive to VPS and PNS for flights. I lived in the PFN (Mexico Beach) area in 2000 and several of our Air Force and personal flights went out of VPS... due to connections, timing, price. I know Bay County wants a new airport, but with US98 being expanded and more PC Beach growth west maybe VPS is becoming a focal point, who knows.

Also don't forget that the Destin/Ft. Walton Beach area is one of the busiest destinations for DFW area local vacationers. The last few times I've been there, I've seen more Texas plates than Florida plates! TLH has less service because it has no beaches or Disney related theme parks

PNS 90+ plus flights?????????? I SERIOUSLY doubt that. Spell them out for me.
This part is 5 minutes later:
OK, I just looked at flytecomm.com...and I'll admit there are more flights than I thought, but no where near 90+...I don't know where you're getting that number!
Needless to say PNS / KPNS), USA - Florida">PNS has the most flights on the Gulf Coast from GPT / KGPT), USA - Mississippi">GPT to TLH / KTLH), USA - Florida">TLH. Also the most passengers, if you don't believe me research it yourself.
