Air Wisconsin/Republic Merger?

What do you think? Air Wisconsin and Republic Holdings are two of the better thought regionals...with SkyWest having the chance to possible buy Comair or ASA, would a merger of Air Wisconsin and Republic Holdings be a good thing? Several aircraft types, the 146 go away, maybe even give back the CRJ in place of EMB-145's in order to have a common fleet. Is it a far fetched thought? Not only that but since AWAC and Republic will hold 3 seats each on the US Airways board, now they are able to help push the company in a direction that could benefit both AWAC and Republic.....hmmm

Any thoughts?

You forgot to add Mesa to the mix. They are sitting on $300 million that they tried to buy ACA with. They're are also thinking that they have to follow the leader and pony up some dough to keep the flying going. You think the other two would give them any business when they can hoard it all to themselves? The beautiful thing is that the three(if it happens) can take what they want and jetison the rest . I think it will be a regional airline that will also do contract work. Think Indy Air with DCA and LGA bases to work out of. They will run E170s and E190s as their workhorses with the CRJs and E145s for contract work. Maybe a rejuvination under a new name almost like bringing back Piedmont or Allegheny? This new player would have the competitve cost structure and markets to work from. It would also be bigger than AE or Expressjet for that matter. Could be?
