I just checked the OAG schedules (CD-ROM database) for now through Oct. and did not see any flights by either AM or MX for the two cities (including BWI). The only service is a daily by UA using a 320 from MEX to IAD.

Last fall, AeroMexico applied to fly to Detroit and Washington Dulles, while Mexicana applied to fly to Charlotte and Fresno. We are still waiting on those new routes, becuase, IIRC, they were all approved.

AM and MX usually get approved for any fly they ask for. Both of them have been approved to service other destinations that have a market. I don't know if its the lack of aircraft, or they want to think about it a little bit more. IAD, CLT, PHL, and DTW should have direct MEX service.

IAD, CLT and DTW have direct, non-stop service to MEX with UA, US and NW, respectively. But yes, I agree there should be room for more than one carrier in each of these routes. With the exception of DTW, none of these airports is a hub of the partners of the Mexican carriers (DL, CO & NW for AM, and AA for MX) so maybe that's what's holding them.
