Air-India to enhance US operations, improve services "By the end of this month, we will have almost a daily service to all the four destinations from New Delhi and Mumbai," Air-India Director (Public Relations) Jitendra Bhargava said.
Air-India has also decided to add three more US destinations - San Francisco, Washington and Houston - within this year after it gets possession of more aircraft with a view to maximise revenues.
Air-India has tied up with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and French designer Pierre Cardin to create new uniforms for its employees under the "Making a Difference" programme. http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_1281326,0002.htm
Besides this, the report says they plan to revamp the interiors at a cost of Rs.4 billion and have launched training program for its employees to provide better service.
It seems days of pot bellies are limited. And they are getting more plane, but no news about source or type.

I read the same article.. out of the context, he means a daily service from either DEL or Mumbai, just to avoid confusion
Otherwise, old things in a new article.. lots of good ideas, as always (JNB, GRU, SYD), but mo means to fullfi.. plenty of these articles in the history
More interesting ts the section with the training, which shows that AI is taking competition from 9W and S2 seriously

I think some people are being a bit harsh. While I would like AI to fix all of their issues asap, I think their current strategy is fine. By refurbishing the seats and IFE on planes that will serve NA and Europe, the market that expects the most will now have a decent product (and with IFE in coach and the food, a better coach product than many). If you have limited funds, there is no point in upgrading the A310s to the middle east as those clients want the cheapest fare. I do think all AI Business class seats should have IFE installed though. After the 744s, I think the A310s that serve Hong Kong and then SIN should be upgraded.
As far as the First Class seats. I do wonder what AI was smoking by not initially installing privacy screens. But my understanding is they will be fixing that. You have to remember AI's first and business class are much cheaper than American or Euro airlines. While CEOs might not be rushing to AI first, I will tell you this there are many people of Indian origin that fly AI's business and First classes from the US to India. I mean ~ $3300 business to BOM and ~ $5400 first to Bom from NYC. AI's first is cheaper than LH's business. This segment, while ethnic, is a very good segment to have as they tend to be very frequent travelers and influence others in the community which is still AI's bread and butter. No doubt their loyalty will only increase when AI gives them access to Star's, or any alliances', FF program.
