Any of our Serbian members have details? 3 JU flights were cancelled last night, including my dad's flight from BNX, when the rep said that they were having "technical difficulties" and later said they were on strike. This morning most flights seem to have a one hour delay.
JU 240 08:10 09:30 PARIS New info
JU 342 08:20 09:30 MUNICH New info
JU 132 08:25 09:30 MOSCOW New info
JU 272 08:35 09:30 AMSTERDAM New info
JU 314 08:45 09:30 VIENNA New info
Was it resolved? Now flights seem to be operating at 9:30AM or is this simply procrastination.

Ok. BE92
BELGRADE -- Friday – The entire fleet of JAT Airways aircraft has been grounded since last night because of a strike by aviation mechanics.

Union leader Dragan Bogdanovic said today that the mechanics have not received their last three salary payments, despite promises from the management before and after the appointment of a receiver to the company in the middle of February.

“Our strike means that we are not working on aircraft. Because of that, because we are not maintaining the aircraft they are not airworthy and none of them can take off. That’s the way it will be until someone talks to us and really tries to solve the problem. Up to now we have had a great deal of understanding from all possible areas in this state, but no one who is willing to solve the problem,” said Bogdanovic, adding that the aviation mechanics are barely surviving and that they won’t allow their strike to be watered down.

According to Bogdanovic, the company’s pilots are also supporting the strike.

Seems as if their still striking, my dad was booked on JU 240 to CDG today, we walked up to counter 708, and the man quickly offered an alternative on Montenegro/Swiss, even though they hadn't admitted the flight was cancelled or anything, but we asked about going to FRA instead on LH at 7.10am (we arrived early enough) because our agent in the States had reserved FRA-PHL on US and havin to connect en route to CDG would not have worked due to time constraints The very helpful man talked to the station manager and let him onto LH to FRA. Even though he was one of the last to check-in, he got a seat in the bulkhead row  Smile.

Yes that is right. The Jat Airways union of aviation mechanics are once again on strike, to the absolute disgust of just about everyone.

The airline is getting its hands on aircraft from abroad to cover some flights. My source informed me that leased aircraft have been brought in from Athens, Berlin, Frankfurt, Larnaca, and Zurich. I am not sure of the aircraft models or the capacities at this point. This is starting to remind me of the famous Qantas strike more than a decade ago.

I am certain that they will maintain the very essential flights on the Jat Airways network, probably at the expensive of regional and low frequency medium-range destinations. Its nothing short of chaos. These unions will destroy this once great airline.
