Here are some new (recent and upcoming) service enhancements from MSY:
America West: LAS nonstop goes daily as of 5/1/05
Delta Connection: Two new daily ERJ nonstops to RDU currently operating (so far so good, the flights are typically packed to the gills)
JetBlue: 3rd daily JFK nonstop eff. 4/22/05
Midwest: Two daily year-round nonstops to MCI eff. 5/1/05 using B717's
Northwest: All DC9-30 flying replaced by A319's (still using 2 DC9-50's on the MEM run). I'm sure the D93's will pop back in here sooner or later...it's kind of odd NOT to see them around.
Southwest: New daily nonstop to MDW eff. 5/31/05
TACA: Will offer daily flights to SAP for the Summer season as of June
United: 3rd nonstop to LAX will be added in May (not sure how long this flight will last as UA's Summer schedules are not finalized yet); recent equipment upgrades to all-A320's on all LAX/SFO nonstops; ERJ-170 service replaces CRJ's on the IAD and ORD Express flights.
US Airways: Recent addition of 5th PHL nonstop and 2nd LGA nonstop
Charter news:
TransMeridian will begin two weekly seasonal nonstops to CUN in partnership with Vacation Express. I'm thinking MD-80's will be used, be we could see some B757's, as there's a ton of demand in the market, most of which now goes to CO since LR and AM abandoned the route a few years back.

Looking at the DL schedule the only changes I see upcoming are equipment downgrades.
Effective 24JUL the flight to ATL departing around 14:40 becomes a Shuttle 738.
Effective 01JUN the flight to ATL departing around 17:35 becomes a M88.
Both of these have been 767-200's.
Also one of the MCO flights in APR becomes a ER3 through August. It is an off/on ERJ.
All of these changes should be loaded.
It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

Ah yes, the typical Delta equipment downgrades for the summer. Actually this summer may be better than last. Last year we did not see a single 767 of any series from June through September. This year, at least two it looks like right now. The 7:35pm flight to ATL got upgraded to a 763 tonight due to heavy loads (cruise ship day).

Yes you will maintain 767 service.
As of now the 6:45 is showing as a 767-200 during the summer
The 8:10 is a 767-300 during the summer.
And at least through June the 14:35 is a 767-200.

FA4B6, you're not happy about that now are you??? Just remember Cafe Du Monde is open 24/7 so your JFK flight can arrive at 3:00am and you can still go get cafe au lait and beignets. Oh yeah, and maybe a Hurricane too, as many places are open all day/night. Ah, gotta love it. See you around at some point, I practically pay rent at MSY.

I'm ecstatic! They'll probably put us in a hotel in Texas somewhere lol .. "stay away from the drink!"
I'm also happy that we're adding frequency to MSY. When I started with JetBlue they had taken the 2nd flight away the year before and we only had that morning flight so its nice to see a 3rd flight.

I saw the other day WN finally got a Midway-New Orleans nonstop! Long time in the wait.

Good to see p2p service with good loads. Perhaps DL will evaluate the use of a third flight, or perhaps larger equipment (CR7 or EMB-170) in the near future. Would you happen to know how the SLC flights are doing?

DAL767400ER,
As in the past, the SLC flights are doing very well. I think they found the right sized aircraft for the route, ie, the MD-90's. In the past when they flew both 727's and 757's on the route, more times than not, the 727's went out full or nearly so, while the 757's did not. Of course there were always exceptions to that rule.

Excellent. Now if the yields are good as well, DL can be very happy with the traffic development at MSY. Now about that JFK flight they dropped years ago...

Wouldn't that be great if they brought it back? Perhaps a reincarnation with Song is in order. Honestly I don't know if that will happen now that B6 is getting ready to add its 3rd JFK flight next month. Perhaps they can be bold and add BOS-MSY with Song eventually, that would be very nice, or better yet, a resumption of LAX-MSY service. That flight is missed, let me tell you.

If the loads do as well as they are now, and since these are Chatauqua flights.. I am very well hoping that they become E170 flights.. RDU has needed these MSY flights since Midway went under.. I'm glad DL took the initiative.. seems like DL is getting prepared for their 5th gate at RDU.. pretty sweet.. does anyone know if they have already taken possesion of A19 (has AirTran moved to A24 yet?)

Tom/Steve... what about UA upgrading some of its weekend LAXs to 752s, is that still on?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Something that's been thusfar left out is MSY's recent success with cargo.
Both FedEx and UPS have upgauged their widebody service (in both frequency and aircraft type) to and from MSY:
D10s for FX, AF6s for 5X
FedEx has also decided to use MSY as a gateway to Mexico, with 72S and D10 service to three cities, with further growth expected. All of this since August of last year.
Also, Gov Blanco's much-publicized trip to Cuba included a trade mission with Mexico, with regaining yearround nonstops by alliance-quality carriers a topic specifically addressed (for whatever effect it may or may not have).
Freddy!!! Long time no talk!
Bad news about those FedEx D10's...looks like those were just seasonal upgrades for the holidays and for Mardi Gras...now back to a mix of 727's and A300's, although FX is now running five flights a day into MSY, which is a good number compared to what they used to have.
To those who may be still yet amused by the continuing subject/saga...
...the (virtual?) startup TCA has updated their site to signify that they've received an "Economic Permit" from the Antillean government and are on course to receive a "Technical Permit" for EIS. They've also claimed to be "in discussions" with Airbus for A340s and A320s.
