Hi all!
Since Marsans Group wants (according to some newspapers from Argentina/Spain) at the moment selling AR I think AF can be an airline interested about AR.
Why?
1.-Because AF/KL is an airline which don't want allowing IB continues being the main european airline serving LatinAmerica.
2.-SkyTeam needs a carrier from the Southern Hemisphere in order to compete on an appropriate way with Star and OW. (SkyT is the smaller alliance in the Southern Hemisphere) An Aerolineas controled by Air France could be a SkyT member. And SkyT could having a new carrier and a new inter-continental connection on the SYD-AKL-EZE route.
3.-Besides, the South American market also needs a SkyT larger presence and more internal competition between airlines and alliances. Sky's presence nearly there is not in South America and other countries below the Equatorial line.
With AR and MH, SkyT could not need more airlines members to cover an reasonable worldwide network.

It's a clear no-no. The AF KL management has already got enough work in order to realize the synergies between the two companies. Furthermore, Argentina is certainly not a core market for AF-KL. You can be sure that the financial markets would NEVER allow such a move (unless increadible conditions, like get the airline for free, do not bear any debt, etc...).
So i guess this idea will remain your fantasy. Enjoy it!
Viajes Marsans wants selling AR. (despite low prices when they bought AR)

Do you know, mr. AF-A319, the price which Marsans "did" pay to buy AR from the former AR's owner ...the SEPI (Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales, a Spanish public company)
It was to sell at bargain prices. Please, firstly inform yourself, and then, post here. OK?

I still think AR needs a partner... but I doubt OW will take them and SKY is not a real good choice for them because they would have no local partners.
I'd say LH/STAR would be a better option... but that's just me.
Cheers,

Edit: But of course, LH doesn't seem very interested anyhow...

This is the problem:
LAN LAN LAN LAN LAN LAN LAN note: AR LAN LAN LAN LAN LAN (you might also substitute all the "LANs" with "OWs")
OW is also in Argentina (or at least soon they will be). And while LAN titled airlines can codeshare with each other on the regional level, AR will be left all by itself. Not to mention more competition coming from StarAlliance.
I'm not saying that AR can't do it, but it makes business a heck of a lot more difficult to go alone...
Saludos,
PPVRA

Actually, Marsans is promoting terribly bad the idea of Europeans investing in Argentine aviation, plus all the headaches that IB and now LAN have had to face there.
I think many investors would wait for RG first and avoid Argentina for a while...
