Only a few hours ago a mate of mine was at Vnukovo on 'assignment' and caught the new Siberia Airlines livery. A range of pics of the aircraft can be found at the link below.....

http://www.aviatsiya.ru/forums/viewtopic.php?p=2053

Next aircraft to follow I am told is A310 in the near future.

Now THAT's a striking colour scheme. No-one could accuse Siberia Airlines of mind-numbing euro-white!

It's interesting that they are changing their identity from "Sibir" to "S7". It would be interesting to know the thinking behind that significant change.

I expect these planes will be real head turners wherever they land.

The new livery makes it certainly very easy to recognize the airline, there is no chance whatsoever of getting confused.

I find it a smart move that they use the name "S7" now, no more Cyrillic letters on the plane - thus giving the airline a more international (Western) flair. And at the same time it promotes their 2-letter code as well as their website. Yes, a very smart move indeed.

Didn't they have an accident last year, possibly one of the two aircraft that was blown up by Chechyn terrorists?
Striking colourscheme. I like it.

I believe the rebrand was done by Landor. What is the significance of "7"? And what's with the people? If they took the random people off the scheme I think it'd be a decent scheme, especially for a low cost carrier.

To me it looks incongruous to the arctic context. Where's the colour link to the local environment, the tundra, permafrost?

Personally I think it looks fantastic, but more like the colour of value driven carrier shuttling along the US mainland's eastern seaboard.

S7 is their call and flight code and I guess it makes for easier identification for passengers at the various airports. Though the new colour scheme would certainly make them stand out!!!

Braniff lives on! At least it beats looking at the old-school Soviet-era Aeroflot-based liveries. Aeroflot's and Siberia's new colors have livened up Russian skies.
