I was traveling on US Airways Flight 98 on March 24.This flight goes from SJU to PHL and then on to LGW. When I arrived to SJU I found out that passengers who were booked on flight 98 were being put onto two different aircraft. These aircraft were both going to PHL to replace the A333 flight to PHL. When I asked the flight attendant what was going on, she said that the A333 had an accident during matinence and could be damaged enough to take it out of the fleet for a long time! The two new US flights that replaced the original A333 flight 98 were Flight 98 on an A320 and Flight 9027 (I believe that was the flight number, the aircraft is unknown to me at this time as well). I made it on the earlier flight 98 and needless to say, there were many unhappy envoy class pax. who were downgraded to coach. In conclusion, US had a mess at SJU today with delays all around the board (BOS, CLT, PHL). An aircraft change did not help at all. To put the icing on the cake, US had a single gate agent to board the PHL flights! I will be posting a trip report sometime soon on this one! On a fun note, Raj from the second season of NBC's Apprentice was on the flight (traveling in coach) to PHL! Does anyone know about the A333 damage? The flight attendant said that the A333 might not even be repairable! Is all of this just F/A gossip or is their some truth to it? All comments on this circus are welcome!

Take Care,
PITA333

Damn, and it's not like the US crew at SJU is the most experienced. At least not when I flew them a couple of years ago. They were barely able to handle an oversale. Sounds like things were pretty screwed up today. Haven't heard anything about the A330 but I'm really curious to find out if it is indeed a write-off due to a mx snafu. I doubt it but you never know.....

US Air has 2 A330s out of service currently. One had a de-ice boom fall on the wing earlier in the month, while other suffered some damage under going a heavy maintenance check.

Apparently they had to have an Excel Airways B767-300 operate the return flight from LGW a couple days ago. The aircraft that had the boom fall, I believe, is returning to service this week so that will alleviate some of the aircraft shortages.

The MAN service was back to an A330 as of last Sunday, so I presume they are back in service again.
