I was wondering if 'anyone in the know' has heard if they are going to be deployed domestically this Summer ? I had the pleasure of taking N122UA ORD-LAX on July 4th.
Their downloaded timetable doesn't show any,but you never know.

Well, probably not scheduled, but UA from time to time subs in 744s on routes scheduled to be on 777s or 763s...

Maybe now that they've retired the 762s and many of the LAX-JFK flights are now on 757s, maybe we'll see a 744 on that...

The last domestic scheduled B744 run is ORD-SFO-ORD UA149/132 which ends April 2nd.

However the B744 will likely make appearances on occasion on routes to Hawaii, LAX-SFO and between the IAD/ORD/LAX/DEN/SFO hubs.

As part of UA's "right sizing" fleet plans they are moving the international aircraft off the domestic runs and utilizing them more on the international runs. They are opening more international routes...SFO NGO and ORD MUC. They are also increasing the frequency on LAX NRT and ORD HKG. They are also upgrading the ORD PEK run to a 747 for the summer. All this is being done with no additional aircraft from the desert. Just higher aircraft utilization and moving these off the domestic routes. United is doing well nomatter what some people in here think. Revenue performance is up and if it weren't for oil ua would be in much better shape.

Thanks for the info . I specifically booked myself to fly on the 744 even though it was more $$ to fly to LAX vs SNA . The 744 I flew on came into ORD from Asia because the duty-free was in Japanese also.

Given that UA does not fly 744s out of JFK anymore, I see the chances of that as slim to none

It will still be the normal surprises from SFO to help catch up after the storm or extreme fog this summer . Only problem no itinerary.  goodvibes

A UA 744 in BOS? I should think you would be distracted... wow. Unfortunately, not a single pic in the database of a UA 747 at BOS...

Yeah, they had a 744 on BOS-SFO after a day or two of major cancellations!

I noticed that they're completely booked this weekend for DEN-ORD and was wondering if anyone knew whether some of the 777's, or other planes for that matter, will be upgraded to a larger aircraft or a 747?

I am sure we'll see them between hubs during peak periods of flying. I can guarantee that those birds will go out packed with cargo and people.

Alex.
