Yeah - I have to be completely honest when I say that it looks totaly grey to me. Until someone mentioned it on this forum, I actualy thought Virgin's paint was grey... intentionaly, I still don't see any sparkle in their silver.

american is bare metal polished up, virgin is silver paint.
i personally dont see why some one would put silver paint on there airplanes, it would save virgin a lot of money if they just left their planes bare metal(there is literally no difference in the color) i also like AA bare metal better because on newly polished or delivered planes, it looks awesome, just look at an AA 777, you will see my point
Give me a break, I created this username when I was a kid...

i think AA has a copywrite on having a polished livery. other wise every airline would have the polished bare metal instead of the boring overused white c/s

Doesn't Delta polish the bottoms of their aircraft? That was my impresion, they seem offaly shiny. I don't know, though, maybe AA has a copyright on full-fuselage shining... but that wouldn't make sence since the whole fuselage isn't polished.

I find it highly unlikely that American can copyright the idea of NOT painting an aircraft. They can register the livery, but not the idea of painting vs not painting a plane.
USAir, Western, Piedmont, AccessAir, Western Pacific, Global International, Southwest, Frontier Horizon all had planes in their fleet that were polished aluminum.
I don't recall hearing anything about a copyright infringement.

maybe nobody polishes their aircraft because they dont want to be mestaken for an american airlines aircraft. thats why martinair holland changed their name to martin air because sometimes the terminal ramp would get in the way and the words would spell air holland, another carreir and competeter.
