Ok this may be a simple question but maybe someone can answer.

How do airlines decide which aircraft to paint in special colour schemes eg

Wunala Dreaming VH-OEJ
Peter Max N77014
Malaysia 9M-MPD

Why those planes and not other ones in the fleet?

Probably either the next one to be delivered or the next one to go through D checks. Makes the most sense, since these are the ones getting painted anyway.

This is a little off topic but does anyone know if there are any chances that Qantas could paint Najanji on a B747-400?
