With all the talk of AC making a new order for widebodies I came to wonder why AC didn't keep their 747 Combis for just a little bit longer. It seems they could really use the additional capacity on some of their key routes (YYZ-FRA comes to mind). Were these 747s to expensive to maintain and are there people at AC who are regretting having retired these awseome planes a bit to early. To me it would have made sense - doesn't mean alot - to keep them until at least they got some 777's or 346HGW's to tide them over.
