Looking for a good written history of Pan Am. Since there are so many out there, do you have any specific recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

I recommend Pan Am: An Aviation Legend by Barnaby Conrad III. It covers the whole history on Pan Am with an emphasis on the flying boat era. Lots and lots of great pictures and old advertisements.

Start with:

and

An American saga: Juan Trippe and his Pan Am empire

I can recommend:
Skygods - The Fall of Pan Am by Robert Gandt
It also covers the early history and is written by a former PA Pilot. I enjoyed reading it a lot.

Have fun reading.

I am not familiar with any of these books (unfortunately), but of related interest, go to http://www.airchive.com and look at the old Pan Am route maps. Not a whole lot of information, but certainly a concise history of where the Grand Dame of airlines used to fly!  cloudnine
