Production Of The 787

sorry is this sounds stupid, but when will the production of the 787 start, and will it be as easy to get pictures of it like we did the A380

Design freeze must come first, at this point the majority (about 90%) of the airplane will be defined. This will happen in summer of 2005. All major contracts have been awarded.

Some prototype components have already been manufactured. Pictures are on Boeing's website. I assume we will get updates as we did for the 777LR

There was speculation that Boeing might change the shape of the vertical stabilsier, giving it a more "normal" look. Any news on this? I hope they don't: the whole aircraft has a dramatic Batplane look.

I saw a picture in the March issue of Airliner World magazine, it wasn't much but it gave a good idea of what we can look forward to seeing in the next year or so.

It's been three months since Boeing built the first test fuselage section. Seven more are planned. Can we expect the second one soon?
