Was just out at the Anchorage International airport and was quite suprised to see a United 747-400 sitting at the North Terminal. Anybody know where it came from and where it was supposed to be going if it did an emergency landing?

Since it looks like you are dying to know, it was UA853 SFO-NRT. It has since departed ANC and is enroute to Tokyo arriving about 4 hours late.

Thanks for the info. Not everday we see a United 747-400 up here in ANC. Just wondering what the deal was. Any idea what the occasion was for it diverting here?

That was UA N199UA
Later at 8:56pm UA 853A took off to Tokyo NRT.

It was hard to take shots of whole aircraft just the tail because UA was parked by North Terminal N2 in the corner.

Sokol, Just out of curiosity were you out there with a camera and tripod yesterday by the end of runway 14 on the hill?

No I didn't have my camera when I went to the airport, on noon I just
stopped close by runway 14 right next to new taxiway with silver car and I was just watching MD-11's, B747's and B737's... taking off from runway 32. When I left I went the way to North Terminal and I saw UA N199UA parked by N2 and I was so happy. I called my friend he works at the airport and I asked him he told me he said no one is around UA B744 right now so I don't think she is living now. I went home to take a break 1 hour I took my camera and I went to take shots of UA B744 at the airport at 3:50pm, but it was hard to take shots of whole aircraft so I took shots just of the tail and winglet right by north terminal. Later when she took off to Tokyo NRT UA 853A it was late dark to shots at 8:56pm of UA B744 taking off. That's all about it, Soon I will upload pictures of UA B744 on A.net
