SEA-EWR flight 8 4/1/05. Looks like it turned back to SEA? Anyone have info?

I'm being told that it's an MX issue. It's arrival time is due now at 12:00 noon. My issue with this is that the a/c took off some 3 hours ago. If the issue is serious enough to cause a divert why go all the way back to SEA?
