Hi everyone.

I just wondered with an A340-300 , is it possible to fly to LAX from Istanbul non-stop?

It is a simple question but I don't know the distance betweem Los Angeles and Istanbul.

There's always this nice little site for questions such as this one:

http://gc.kls2.com/

IST-LAX is 6871 miles, 5971 nautical miles or 11058 kilometers.

Frank

Sure its certainly possible, however with a payload hit that would make the route not economic.

One of the limiting factors of such a long flight from Istanbul is the airports relatively short 9800ft runways combined with the A340s somewhat poor field length performance.

Hmmm, must have missed something here, 'cos it's always got me in and out of wherever we're flying - and I'm not going down the route yet again of why its performance seems so leisurely - if you need it, it's got it...... but as the song also goes...... It aint what you got, it's the way that you do it  Big grinD

So I drive a 4x4. So what?! Tax the a$$ off me for it...oh, you already have... :-(

The A340 has a similar field performance profile to a 777.

That being said, 9800 feet is somewhat short.
