Globe and Mail Update

Bombardier Inc.'s aerospace unit said it won a $637-million (U.S.) order for 20 CRJ700 regional jets.

SkyWest Airlines of St. George, Utah placed the order, which will increase its CRJ700 fleet to 52 aircraft.

The operating costs of the CRJ700 airliner is 10 per cent lower than its closest competitor, the Montreal-based company said.

As of Feb. 28 of this year, Bombardier has delivered 1,226 CRJ aircraft to customers, making the CRJ program the sixth best-selling commercial jet program in history.

“The CRJ700 aircraft's low operating costs really shine in today's challenging airline market environment,” said Steven Ridolfi, president of Bombardier Regional Aircraft, in a statement.

SkyWest's CRJ700 aircraft all fly under the United Express banner for United Airlines.

Good news for the CRJ line... their backlog wasn't looking too hot.

Nope it really wasn't. I find it interesting that they state that the operating costs of the CRJ700 airliner is 10 per cent lower than its closest competitor. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

How are BBD's CRJ700 orders vs. EMB's?
