Just out of curiosity, why does VS use such a long-range aircraft for such short hops like LHR - BOS/JFK/IAD? Is it for capacity? Does the A346 or 744 seat more people and which has a larger Upper Class cabin?

Are you sure your haven't got mixed up with the A345 ultra long range aircraft? The A346s range is similar to the 747, 777, A330, A340 etc The 747 does seat more people and proberbly has a larger Upper Class cabin but I can't be sure on that.

Obviously a Virgin Atlantic fan!!!
