Central American airline TACA will expand its operations in GRU replacing the A319 with the A320 in its daily flights UIO-LIM-GRU from effect 15 April 2005. This will increase capacity on the route in 15%. TA is the only airline connecting Ecuador and Brazil with direct flights.
TACA also announced it will expand its capacity in CCS, UIO, BOG, SJO, EZE, LPB and VVI.
In 2009 TACA will take delivery of another 26 A320 and A321. If I'm not mistaken, after its recent fleet renewal, TACA has the youngest fleet in Latin America.
I consider TACA a quality airline with a very good service, probably one of the best in Latin America.

hahaha, I can see you have never paid 400+ bucks for an LAX-SAL, GUA or MGA flight while being charged 6 dollars for a sandwich in flight and paying a 100 dollars cuzz youre bag is a pound over weight. TA is the pickiest, most stuck up airline, with the worst customer service. You HAVE to try CopaNENTAL and LAN.

My recent flight MGA-SJO-MEX with TA was excellent, top quality onboard service, certainly at the same level of CM, LA and JJ. Maybe I was just lucky...

I certainly have plans to go back to Nicaragua but then on holidays to have more time to spend around Granada.
Sandwich? I had a full-course hot meal with TA on the leg SJO-MEX (I had a friend on Economy and he had a free sandwich+desert+drinks...[MGA-SJO was one-class flight with the ATR, basic peanuts service... ]

How long ago was this? I remember the times when TA had an excelent fillet in ejecutiva... Since about 4 months ago the most you get is a sandwich, and they sell it in coach.
It was last week. Ejecutiva with full-course hot menu and free meals/drinks on Economy on the flight SJO-MEX. Maybe it is something specific for this route, considering that flights to MEX are highly competitive? Loads were about 95% on economy and 60% on Ejecutiva for a mid-week flight.
About the fillet, Nicaragua's meat is one of the best I ever tasted.
BTW, is there any schedule to finalise the renewal of MGA airport?

I flew EZE-LIM-CUZ and back with TA two years ago in Economy and I didn't have to pay for the food. I also recall the Costa Rican coffee I had was excellent. Is paying-for-food a new airline policy?

Hola, Marcos:
Quoting Marambio (Reply 9): I flew EZE-LIM-CUZ and back with TA
In the case of Brazil TA flies UIO-LIM-GRU. Is TA flying CUZ-LIM-EZE? This seems a very interesting flight. BTW, TA will also use the A320 to EZE as of April.
Quoting Marambio (Reply 9): I also recall the Costa Rican coffee
Another plus for TA...the coffee is indeed excellent (but now served only on Ejecutiva as far as I know).
MGA: would you consider TA inferiour to former airline NICA?

Actually NICA was almost always owned by TA (last days were operated by an LR plane). They had a decent product. At least the food and booze was good! Last time I flew NICA we watched a B movie and when they started playing it, it was already about 20 min in!

TACA is trying to sell the new baggage policy as something good "simpler" as they call in and in Reality they took 40 free pounds from their passengers old policy two bags 140 lbs max new 100 pounds max. TACA is looking at ways to get extra $$ from other sources while lowering fares. We have to understand that air travel is not what it used to be, in Central America we becaame used to be pampered in the air by our airlines, but that is long gone. TACA is taking measures that some don't like as a way to defend their turf. Also we have to accept that TACA is Knowhere near to the type of service they had in the past. But again times have changed.

When I was relieved of my possessions at the airport in LIM (including my TA ticket from LIM to BOG the next morning), I was astonished that the TA rep in LIM insisted I purchased a completely new ticket, even though I had a police report and all the details of the ticket that was purchased from the TA town office in CUZ.
In my complete naivety, I thought that TA would just charge me for reissuing a new ticket and give me a new one against an FOI. How silly of me to expect such practices!
It was only by behaving like one of the irate pax we see on Airport that I finally got my way and was issued a new ticket for $50.
I don't know if this is standard practice in the Americas (it certainly isn't in Europe), but it did leave bad taste in the mouth.

Yes, indeed TA expanded capacity in BOG. It now has 2 daily flights, one to SJO with A320 and one to LIM with A319. It only operated 10 weekly flights six months ago and a year ago only the daily to SJO.

Try same route again. I bet go'll get the same results.

TACA has the worst customer service I ever experienced.y they treat their passangers like cattle dont believe me : board one of their red-eye "buses" from LAX to SAL or GUA. If you complain, they'll kick you out of the plane. It happened to me after I complain about one of the boarding agents that was screaming at passengers. She screamed even louder and call security to have me removed from their "interprovincial" bus. Worst of all Guatemalan agents and flight crew.

What happened to TA's MEX-LIM non-stop service using A319's. I noticed in AM printed schedules that AM is no longer codesharing with TA to LIM (it seems to be codesharing with LA instead), but I am not sure if the route was demised or if it remains.
