While on final to 24R today, I watched a Midwest Airlines MD80 do a RTO on 24L due to an engine problem. The smoke was quite heavy and someone on freq was reporting fluid pouring from the engine. They closed they runway for a short period due to bits & pieces being scattered about from the engine.

Does anyone have any more details???

I noticed a Midwest Airlines MD-80 sitting at the West Imperial ramp this morning(Sat.) when I got off work.(About 0730) Just had a glance over as I drove past on Imperial Highway, and I think I saw N701ME on the tail. I figured there might be a problem, since I never have seen Midwest parked there before.
