Why Is VT-EPT In Toulouse?

Why has IC sent it's A320, VT-EPT to Toulouse? Why does it have a French registration? I can understand IC sending it over for some tests but why a change of registration to F-WWBY?

VT-EPT is on lease to Airbus for tests on new tyres. Since these tests are performed in Toulouse, France, by Airbus, the plane is re-registered with a temporary French test registration. Just normal procedure.

I don't understand why Airbus brought in this particular aircraft for testing? I might be mistaken, but I thought IC were struggling to increase capacity due to non-availability of aircraft, so why lease one to Airbus?  confused

Perhaps it has something to do with IC's unique double bogey landing gear. In order to certify a new tire type for IC to use they would need this type of aircraft. AFAIK the IC 320's are the only ones in existence.

That would be my guess at least.
