We all know that FRA is short of runways, considering how big the airport is.
Does anyone know when the new runway (which will only be used for landings) will be finished?, as well as Terminal 3.
I was also wondering, doesn't MUC also have a lack of runways compared to it's traffic. While FRA handled 119,369 landings per runway last year, and 79,579 takeoffs per runway last year, MUC handled 95778 landings per runway, and 95778 takeoffs per runway last year.
So, MUC seems to have to let more airplanes take off per runway last year than FRA.
Then why do I never hear anything about MUC not having enough runways?
Thanks for any replies!

Quoting Zvezda (Reply 2): How could FRA have 50% more landings per runway than takeoffs per runway? The data are fishy.
This is because FRA has 2 runways where taking off and landing is possible, and 1 runway where only taking off is possible.
I only didvided the total takeoffs and landings by the amounts of runways where taking off/landing is possible.
I'm sure they use one runway where (taking off/landing is possible) they mainly let airplanes land to even out the fact that runway 18 is only used for takeoffs.
So basically, FRA has 2 and a half runways for landing and departing.
Hope this helps.

If you compare the parallel runways in FRA, they pretty much handle the same amount of landings and take-offs. It's not, that one is for landings and the other one for take offs.

Yes, you are probably correct on that one.
But I was just wondering, they have runway 18 for takeoffs only, so they have got to let more planes land than takeoff on the parallel runways, or is it because it takes longer to take off than to land, but I can't imagine that this is the reason.
