You all read about this proposed new rule for aircraft flying over the US, but not landing there. The article I saw said there were 500+ such flights a day. Zat sound possible? Maybe there's lots of Canada-to-Canada flights flying over Michigan, and some from Canada to the Caribbean and Latin America, and a few from Europe to MEX-- think it adds up?

You've also got Canada-Canada flights flying over Maine enroute to the maritimes (like Halifax).
Then there are of course Canada-Asia flights that fly over Alaska and AC's non-stop SYD-YVR that may overfly Hawaii.
Wouldn't be surprised if some Europe-Latin America flights go over Puerto Rico/USVI, but those should be easily rerouted. Same goes for Asian flights over Guam and Pacific flights over American Samoa.
Canada-Canada is probably the bulk of the 500, with Canada-Latin America/Caribbean/Asia being another good chuck. Daily flights Europe-Mexico probably don't exceed a couple dozen.
