...radio news just reported, that Airbus said the maiden flight is planned for wednesday (if the weather conditions are ok).
I can´t either lock in on the A380 lounge with their provided password nor find any news on that on their website  boggled

Normaly this radio-station is very reliable and the weather forecast for Toulouse is quite good from tomorrow.
So let´s wait and see if it will happen on wednesday or if it is just another rumor.

The "Prefecture" of Haute-Garonne issued on friday 22nd the offical document including the roads/streets closed or affected by the traffic on the day of the first flight.

Since Airbus said that they needed to inform the authorities at least 48 hrs prior to, I think we are on track for Wednesday then. In parallel, the weather is good.

(They specially made two huge parkings lots for the event, for at least 10000 cars)

No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.

French media reports speak about at least 50.000 spectators - the city of Toulouse will broadcast the event live on a giant screen in front of the majors' hall on Toulouse' main square.Monster-traffic jams can be expected in Toulous on wednesday ....it is great to see the "average" french-people taking part in such a massive way in this event.

Reminds me of the last Concorde in Germany at FKB, with 12.000 people watching and huge traffic jams. Or the three Concordes in LHR.

You can subscribe to the airbus -site and obtain access to their live-broadcast via their A380 site- otherwise I am sure french TV will broadcast life as well ( via their respective websites..) as will the second german TV chanel "ZDF".
Skynews should cover the event live in the UK (if not-shame on them - the UK provide substantial parts of the A 380 ..!!)

Great news! Wednesday 27th will be a special day in aviation history.

On the Airbus website they have put up a whole lot of material for the first flight. They've done quite a nice job - obviously a lot of work has been involved. You'll find:

- videos of previous airbus first flights
- videos of preparation of A380 for testing
- lots of photos & articles
- 360 view inside cockpit
& more.

Go to:

The site has only just gone up & I don't think it is accessible from the main website (unless you do a search...  sly  ).

Do you guys know if there is any chance the the event will be broadcast by some of the major news networks such as CNN, NBC, SKY News, BBC News...? That would be better than going mad to catch it on the internet...

I've checked the website of ZDF.
There is no hint yet on the program section for Wednesday.
Even MDR (Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk) broadcasted during their news this morning, that the A380 first flight will happen on Wednesday, 27th.

Aviation! That rocks...
