I wonder if they know that they might actually make money if they sell the 747's and buys some more A340s or A330s? to bad american will be using the 777s in a little while and then there will be two airlines that use sleeper seats to buenos aires. I wonder if they know that british airways has been using sleeper seats to buenos aires sonce before they even ordered the A340? Since the 747s are being fitted with new seats, i expect them to be around for a long time yet and will continue loseing money for ar. When will ar ever make a profit? Really, they have never ever made a profit in their whole existence!

God, we are all tuned in to whats going to happen next with the Aerolineas Argenitas soap opera.
It amazes me that no matter what it still keeps on flying.
Aerolineas Argentinas must be in-mortal... or something!!!!
I wonder? How much money does AR have in the bank? Even though they keep on loosing, for some reason it still manages to survive. I know that Iberia invested 70 million. But whats going to happen after that. It seems like AR is nowhere close to making a profit this year?
I hope that some miracle happens (Like Jesus gets reborn) so that AR keeps on flying.

Yes, no-one here (in Argentina), has any confianza in their own airline. We flew down here on BA (well there was no other option, AR stopped flying to the UK ages ago).
By the way, most of the crew on the BA flight were Argentine, very nice girls too (based at EZE), although BA allows them to serve their other non-Latino flights aswell (one girl had been with the 744 fleet for 2 months and had already been to JNB, BKK, SYD and SCL!!). Yes, BA/AA offer a brilliant service to their respective destinations, why bother with AR?
I've just heard an AF lady pilot request push-back for Paris!! She said "Buenos Aires 219 listo para start-push back" -I thought communications at EZE are in English?
Speedbird2266 is still on it's way from SCL...

Yes, Aerolineas is not helping in turning around this mess. A friend of mine came last week from the USA (she is studying abroad) and flew the A340. Both ways, flights departed with two hours of delay, service onboard was rude, according to her some FA looked like female football players.
Tailscraper: you may be able to hear women pilots (french) on Aerolineas A340´s too which were hired until all captains are trained for this aircraft.

Aerolineas Argentinas is no position to order any aircraft at this time. The A340-600 are history and they have not take up any of the -300s at least all I've seen is the -200. This soap opera will last for a long time...if it does survive GREAT!, it would be a shame to loose our flag carrier and replaced with LANArgentina?...that's just crazy, but that is why I fly anything else except AR. More 340s and 330s? In a perfect world maybe.
There was an article in Clarin recently that AR was going to ask SEPI for 800million (whatever the crazy amount is) to get out of debt...I don't think that's going to happen.
ARs fleet will remain what it is...until everything is resolved...and we all know how that could drag.
All these talks about A340-300s, replacing the A310 with A300-600R...and the famous B737NG and possibly one by one replacement of Australs DC9 with B717 (how funny is that?) order...is no where near...like I said before in a perfect world maybe.
The biggest mistake AR made which as we know was influenced by AMR was the purchase of the A340s...that is why AR is in the position it is now...well mainly because of that. There are many other factors but...after driving lets say Ford for years...you go and buy a Rolls Royce. Stupid mistake. They might have gotten a good deal from Airbus (I know for a fact that AR was very close to taking 777s) but still not one they could afford.
I personally think that the only way for AR to be saved is by the Continental proposal. As long as AR doesn't become a clone like Copa. And like so many others these days like PLUNA, LAN Peru, TACA Peru...

Yes I'm using a digital scanner (or was, until a few minutes ago), TWR. was on 113.5FM MHz, but they do have a habit of changing it randomly. I have no idea what the Aeroparque frequencies are, but the Spanish is spoken just a little to quickly for me to understand;
it seems a lot of the European/Brazilian-bound traffic gets routed to "Banar", wherever that may be.
EZE is quite intresting actually, there's been a Martinair Cargo MD-11, and a 744C Cargolux flight, aswell as the usual Thursday mixture.
I'm off home on Saturday, taking a South African 742 to Johannesburg, then catching the evening Emirates A330 to Dubai. The weather has been incredible over the past few days, much warmer than I thought, although today's weather is a lot more like what we get in the UK... oh well, Dubai in 3 days....

it is possible for lapa to do that but only if ar fails. I think the problem is with the american carriers that fly here. If united and american are already here woth delat and continental on the way. these are all better carriers then ar and there is no way they can surivive with them. Would it not be cool to see southern winds as argentinas national carrier? maybe ar will make more money when they have all their planes in one airport(eze). i believe aero parque could be making them lose money on thru trafic
