Tricky Stockholm ATC-tower Question.

Hello.

Tody there was a radio quiz, which got my attention.
They asked why the air traffic controlers at Stockholm have one ball on each of their wrists?
I couldn't understand the answer, but it must have something to do with the height of the tower (84 meters) and that he's swinging.

But why the balls? Is it to avoid their "Airsickness"?

Hope somebody here knows.

Hello Georg,

thank you for your mail! Sounds like you have a very interesting radio show in Germany!!!

Regarding the answer of the quiz, you are absolutely correct. The small "balls" work as a kind of acupressure, in order to neutralize seasickness. Some controllers in our ATC Tower wear these "balls" when working in hard weather, saying that they help really well, too.
