They put a lot of work into their brand-new terminal. The old terminal, while not ugly, was very bland and efficient. The new terminal, however, is very user friendly.
My mom flies LAX-FSM frequently (all her family is in that area), and she was quite surprised on her first trip to the new terminal. I thought she was being a bit silly gushing on about how nice it was, but my first (and only) visit so far removed all doubts.
They still need those automatic plastic covers that change with each time like ORD has...

a bit off...the best foyer for a restroom i have ever seen is the Venice Cafe in St. Louis, Missouri.
a bright neon light saying "Shitters" guides patrons down the stairs to the brick jail-style concrete walls below. at the bottom of the stairs behind some metal bars is a jungle-scene erotica with naked barbie dolls (all graphically colored in) submitting themselves to He-Man and Chewbacca. meanwhile, tons of miniature beer cans, bongs, liquor bottles, marijuana plants, etc. dot the jungle landscape.
