Actually I've just read in today's newspaper that there might be an extra non-stop flight to JFK from KWI added to KU's flights. AND....! The Chairmen of KU said today that there will no longer be flight to Chicago IN THE FUTURE !  Sad

As for the fleet, they are still studying the two proposal's from Airbus and Boeing, and also waiting for some one to loan them some G's  Smile

Current fleet:
3 A320's
3 A310's
5 A300's
3 A343's
2 B777's

Boeings proposal :

B737-800's
B787
B777LR

Airbus's proposal :

A320's
A321's
A330's
A340-500's
A350's

And judging from what I AM seeing they might go for Boeing.

Quoting Beijing21 (Reply 3):

I don't think so. The Chairmen also noted that GVA was one of KU's profitable routes. And also noted the possibility of increasing flight to GVA at summer seasons.

The aircrafts serving ORD are the A340, they are also used on all the routes in the far east, and used to routes like Cairo in Summer, were there is more demand for seat to a particular destination.

Wow, that is fantastic new for CAI!

Captain777, you're heading states '141 extra summer flights' but according to your first post Cairo alone will get an extra 143 flights. Any chance their other Egyptian destinations (ALY, LXR, SSH, ATZ) will get an increase?

Hey Horus long time no see! To tell you the truth I've just extracted all of my info straight from the newspaper and only translated it. So I might have made a mistake or misunderstood something, as soon as I find that paper I'll check the info again.  Wink

I'm not sure about Parague, but I'm really sure I've heard something about KU and Prague lately. So again I have to ask about that.

Quoting Codeshare (Reply 7):
What about Jazeera Airways?

Al Jazeera is a Low cost airliner, according to KU's Chairmen: KU has absolutely no concerns from Al Jazeera and they don't see them as competition (ouch!)  Smile As for their routes they are only serving the M.E, Egypt and the Indian subcontinent.

How are the loads on the KWI-GVA-ORD route? Was there any reason why they want to stop Chicago?

Hey Captain777, any idea why KU are only operating 2x weeky flights to SSH this summer. They usually have 4x weekly A310 flights. Here is a picture of 9K-ALB at SSH when I was there in February:

ORD isn't bringing in much revenue to the airline. The dropping of ORD has been the talk around the airline since last year. This year it seems to be more confirmed that it'll happen. Aircraft utilization on another, more profitable route, provides for a higher return on investment.

Quoting B742 (Reply 1):

No chance. KAC is mulling over dropping the LHR stop for their KWI-JFK services. This too has been considered for over a year now but nothing certain has been set as of yet.

Quoting Codeshare (Reply 7):
What about Jazeera Airways?

Their first flight has been pushed back with the advent of the 05 winter schedule, i.e. October 30th, 05. For now, KU is still the only one with a hub at KWI. But as Captain777 said, their coming online by the end of the year will basically give KU a push on the short/regional routes as Jazeera doesn't plan to do long-haul.
