According to the Dutch news (RTL4) 10.000 persons have already subscribed to the first commercial A380 flight. This flight will be Singapore Airlines from SIN to LHR. They quote an SQ official who said that they will have a lottery to determine who can fly. More info on the SQ website.

Quoting Newark777 (Reply 9): Back on topic, how much are these tickets going to cost for coach? With all this demand, SQ could make a fortune.
It would be fun if they got all 10 A380's at the same time to fly together to LHR. That would be a shock to the groundstaff... 5000 pax at the same time..lol

Yep, it's like that. Funny how we are all the same, but also not.

But the first flight date for SQ has not been announced has it? (and is subject to change anyway). So how can they say there's 10,000 for the first flight?

10 A380's flying in formation, now that would be a sight to see.

You will have to sign up on the SQ website. They let you know when the first flight is, and decide by lottery who can buy a ticket...

Well, we all sound stupid when we're drunk (re: your sig). The difference here is that our beer sucks, so we have to stick to the hard liquor.
For those who want a quick primer on how different countries write numbers and dates you can look it up in the Microsoft Windows Control Panel.
In XP, go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options

I wouldn't get your hopes up too much. Expect F to be reserved for politicians, bigwigs and some press.
I think to be honest your best bet is your are SQ PPS or above and aim for J or Y

I like commas (or dots [periods/full-stops] for that matter) in my really long numbers:

i heard about all these people wanting to fly our first a380 flight. it's quite exciting for us cabin crew as well, with the a380 training and everything. on top of that i'm going to be a chief stewardess as well, so by the time our first a380 making her first journey, i would be wearing the red sarong kebaya uniform! it's going to be bloody brilliant!
Ladies & Gentlemen, we will now demonstrate the use of the safety equipment on this aircraft...

Why is SQ using the A-380 on the first flights to LHR. I thought they might use them first on some short-haul routes like they did with the A 340-500. The must be very sure that everything works very well with a completely new aircraft.
