Tomorrow's the big day! The first flight will be a 737NG in the canyon blue colors with winglets. The plane was ferried in to PIT this afternoon, with a water cannon salute. Let's hope they do well!

Now, one complaint:
WHY NO PIT-MCI!?!??!?!??!?!??!?!?!

Flying an aeroplane with only a single propeller to keep you in the air. Can you imagine that? -Capt. Picard

Actually, to get inebriated on because they can no longer charge the deadly extortion fares of $364 for a 1 hour flight to PHL.

This is a victory for all of western Pennsylvania because they no longer have to make the 100 mile drive for reasonable fares in CAK (FL presence).

I was in the Ops tower when the flight came in today and had a first class seat to the dog a pony show. Other than the water arch, news copter and all of the media, nothing too special. I think the A/C N number was like N440LV or something. Eh, no big deal just glad to see the gates being used now. Wished they would have taken the gates at the end of B rather than A1 and A3, we at US xpress barely had enough space before they took the gates from us, now it is a nightmare.

The first one had a bunch of execs on it, so one of the people down on the floor told me. The second roled in around 6ish and the last around 9 or so.

The local TV station, KDKA-TV, had great coverage of the first flight, as viewers saw it take off at around 6:55 (delayed due to the de-icing prosess..... in may Sad

PIT was under a frost advisory. Sometimes I wish I lived down south.). The take off looked great. Good luck to WN and I'm sure they will do well in steel town! We welcome them with open arms.

They are only using A5 for the RON, the gate upstairs still has US stuff on the walls. WN pulls the first of the three RONs on A1 or A3 and then repo it to A5 with a tug. They are not using it for boarding or deplaning yet.

It was part of the ceremony, including a school marching band, Kelly getting peanuts poured over him by Bettis and someone else that I forget, and a bunch of WN employees running through a banner dressed like 737's.
