Whats the deal with their fleets now - VEX had 10 737s and SN had 32 avros and airbuses - have they retired any or is the current combined fleet still 42 planes? Anyone know what type they are centering on for the future - presume the A319 has to be be favourite?
What do you mean you dont have any bourbon? Do you know how far it is to Houston? What kind of airline is this???

SN has a a 'stable' fleet right now, ie no aircraft with ending lease contracts etc (as far as I know!). The VEX fleet is more of a dynamic one, at least it appears to be that way. I'm not sure if the total amount of aircraft remains the same, but every now and then, most presumably when a lease contract ends, an aircraft is put out of the fleet, and a new 2nd hand is brought in.
I don't expect a drastic fleet change the next two years with any of the two airlines, but you never know of course. As an airline enthusiast I can only hope...

There are indeed the 10 737s and the 32 Avros or the like but you must add up the 3 A319s and the 3 A330s to get the total right...
I sincerely hope they'll freshen up the fleet a little bit. Better economy on the A330s (maybe a long haul fleet type change on the horizon, rumors...) and commonality at the 737 vs A319 level. Even if SN and TV are different products, it does make sense to use the same metal to offer them.
Wouldn't be surprised to see a slow move away from Airbus and an order/lease for some 737NGs and 787s. The fact that they reportedly studied the possibility of the 744 Combi means they are no longer applying a back turned to Boeing policy.

No plans exist for A330 replacement within the next two years. SN was even looking for an extra one, but couldn't get hold on (it seems if any A330 become available they get very soon re-allocated.....credit to this aircraft??). On the other hand, the A330's seem to be plagued by a lot of technical downtime lately. Aren't those A330 original Air Inter airframes? This makes them amongst the oldest ones flying.
Same goes for the Avro's: no replacement within two years.
Didn't VEX some time back (pre-Sabena failure) order B737-700's, but never received them because they went straight to Virgin Blue?
VEX didn't merge with SN, they are just owned by the same investor. Resources and their usage remains split (for now).
