Perhaps a sign of things to come? a re-entry into Australia?
Sri Lankan (UL), has added its code to EK's SIN-BNE-SIN & SIN-MEL-SIN sectors.
9:20p SIN 1 6:20a+1 BNE I *UL 2432 Non-stop 773 7:00
8:30p BNE I 2:15a+1 SIN 1 *UL 2433 Non-stop 773 7:45
3:20p SIN 1 12:20a+1 MEL I *UL 2404 Non-stop 773 7:00
7:20p MEL I 1:00a+1 SIN 1 *UL 2405 Non-stop 773 7:40
Interestingly, UL's code has not been added to EK's new BKK-SYD flights.
Another interesting factor is the connections between UL flight between CMB & SIN with the new codeshares with EK is crap in both directions.
12:35a CMB 6:35a SIN 1 UL 316 Non-stop 332 4:00
3:30p SIN 1 5:10p CMB UL 312 Non-stop 332 3:40

Maybe UL is only interested in codesharing and not operating their own metal, just because UL is now code-sharing, doesn't mean that UL will start flying to Australia, both AA code-sharing on QF services to aussie and UA code-sharing on NZ services to New Zealand comes to mind

777ER,
UL announced in mid 2004 that it would be resuming Australia services [SYD, MEL or both] in 2005.
Obviously those plans have been put on hold post tsunami.
Given the continued growth out of India and Sri Lanka to Australia, it's only a matter of when, not if. I also understand the shortage of aircraft [A343] is an issue.

It would be very welcome.
I flew to CMB last year (pre Tsunami) from Sydney and the cheapest was a GF/UL combo via SIN which cost more than a cheap fare to Europe.
UL were outstanding (no doubt the EK influence).
I wondered at the time why they didn't have fares on offer through EK. In fact EK should offer through fares, because from memory they operate a SIN-CMB-DXB service with their own metal which connects quite well with the EK Australian flights ex SIN.

I travelled to CMB last year as well, and had the same thoughts.
FYI - the EK flights from Aust don't connect with EK's SIN-CMB-DXB services. Bummer isn't it. I understand the reason for this is because there is also a CGK tag.
3:30a DXB 1 6:45p CGK 2 EK 348 2-Stops 773 12:15
8:35p CGK 2 5:30a+1 DXB 1 EK 349 2-Stops 773 11:55
Here are the timings of EK's SIN-CMB-SIN flights, as well as the BNE and MEL timings.
7:20p MEL I 1:00a+1 SIN 1 EK 405 Non-stop 773 7:40
8:30p BNE I 2:15a+1 SIN 1 EK 433 Non-stop 773 7:45
missed connex with EK flight:
12:30a SIN 1 2:00a CMB EK 349 Non-stop 773 3:30
10:55a CMB 4:50p SIN 1 EK 348 Non-stop 773 3:55
only works with BNE with 4.5 hr layover.
3:20p SIN 1 12:20a+1 MEL I EK 404 Non-stop 773 7:00
9:20p SIN 1 6:20a+1 BNE I EK 432 Non-stop 773 7:00

According to the MEL airport schedule, these codeshares extend to AKL as well.
Also, the schedules have the UL codeshare flight operating to/from DXB/SIN. I thought it would only be up to SIN.
I agree the connections via SIN are useless. It would be wise if they retimed some flights. Aren't UL making SIN 16 times a week soon? Surely with that number of flights, some of them should connect both ways.

That's a mistake. It's because the FIDS only go by flight number, and therefore show the codeshare over the whole sector. Same problem with Pacific Blue and Virgin Blue. Thinks its Pacific Blue due to DJ flight code.

clever marketing: 16 pw is correct, but includeS 4pw codeshare on EK operated flights, and the rest which are all triangulating services thru KL.
