Does anyone have any comments/information on how the 777-300ER EIS has gone at Emirates?

Sure hope it has the same standard of fit out as the A345. You've won a lot of customers including me to your first class. Put us in non demi suites once, and you've lost us.

Does anyoe know if the B777-300ER's from Emirates will have 10 abreast in y class like on their B777-200 and B777-300, or 9 abreast.
Personally I couldn't imagine Emirates having 10 abreats on their B777-300ER, when their whole competition has 9 abreast(SQ,CX and a couplemore)

Hi there just want to enlight you about EK 77W seat configuration:

EK 777-300ER (3class)
F12: 2-2-2 flat beds but not like A345 with private suites, there are deviders between seats with each seat having its own mini bar (cooler).
C42: 2-3-2 much improved seat pitch and recline from other old T7.
Y310: 3-4-3 same as usual.

EK777-300ER(2class)
C42: 2-3-2 with six rows only in the fwd cabin section instead of the 7 rows on the 773.
Y385: 3-4-3

However, the ICE system (Information, communication, Entertainment) is a standard on all EK 77W in all classes.

When you raise the bar, dropping it is really dumb.

Sure, I'm sure the personal service standards will be high. But the A345 suites were quiet, totally private, and extremely comfortable. The -300ER could have been just as good and even more spacious in the aisles etc.

You have to remember that the A345 is fitted out for ultra longhaul flights i.e DXB-SYD/AKL/MEL/CHC & NYC.. When flying the 773er your longest flight with EK currently is around 8 HRS per sector BKK-DXB-SYD vv So why would you need the suite? Most people flying wanting to fly direct to SYD/MEL will choose they A345 but if you want a stop enroute the the 773er is fine. It will allow EK to offer two levels of fares, Fly direct with the A345 and pay a little more or simply add an extra three hours to your journey and save a few bucks.

I can undestand the 2 x 3 x 2 Business configuration on the 777, but isn't that same configuration a bit cramped on their A332 aircraft? Has anyone experienced EK business class on the A332?

Yes flown several times on the EK A332 J class, and its fine. You have to remember that EK don't operate many flights on the A332 over 7-8 hours so why would you need a 2-2-2 config. the service is no different to that on the 777's. I do prefer the 777 in J class 2-3-2 as it does have a more roomier feel.

Thanks for the info. Its just that most other Airbus operators use a 2-2-2 configuration, regardless of the range. Are you using a modified seat or just narrow aisles? I ask this because my experience with other airlines operating 747/767 equipment had to use smaller seats on the 767 to fit even 2-2-2.

The J class seats on the A332 are slightly narrower compared tot he ones on the 777's as for the narrower isles I'm not 100% sure. I'm due to fly on the EK A330 & 777 very soon I will have a look as I too am interested to know.

I agree with Antares that not having the suites on the 777-300ER is a bad idea...

Maybe in a year or two when they have more A332 and the A380 the 773er will be applied to NEW routes that require the range of that aircraft. North America/Canada.

Another explanation behind not installing the suites maybe to do with the routes the 773er will be operating. If the route is not a high yielding one then recouping the cost would take much longer. is there high yield on DXB-GLAvv/ BKK-SYDvv/ DXB-JNBvv. etc etc I'm sure EK know what they are doing and if people want to fly to Oz or NZ using the suites then they can simply use the A345 service.

that is pretty bad - VS for example have the same 2-3-2 on the A340 (same cabin width) in premium economy - but with less pitch of course.

it may not be a mega-haul flight like the A345, but for 8 hours that is still not on - I wouldnt pay for that.

I misunderstood your original message as implying the 773-ER would be used to replace the A345. After all no one would use a long ranger like the Boeing for anything other than the non-stops from Dubai to Australia because that would be plain silly.

Incidentally EK did use the 2-3-2 J class arrangement out here in 777s and it was so ordinary they could only get the equivalent of premium economy for it.

The 2-2-2 J class in the A345s looks really inferior to the QF,SQ and CX product when you see it on boarding because it has much less seat pitch. I think Emirates should capitalise on the very good impression its service standards and IFE make by matching its main competitors on this route in J class amenity, and look forward to seeing how they achieve that in the A380, if they get any before 2007, which is starting to look a bit doubtful.

Not a great move not to have suites in F on the 773ER, good to have ICE though. That system alone makes every other carrier poor, SQ included.

Isn't EKs main objective with the 773ER to increase cargo capability as the 773ER has a higher MTOW allowing heavier take-off loads from DXB than the 773?

A345 and A346 for longer thinner routes and 773ER for heavy-duty medium work - that's what I have read somewhere - I think...

Fares on the A345 routes are also higher than the regular routes. So travellers will have a choice as to whether they want the A345 or the 'slower' one stop routes via BKK. So of course it makes sense that the Suites remain on the more premium product.

The 777-300ER has a new First class equivalent of the sort of SQ/BA/CX product and is very comfortable. This sits between the all singing suites of the A345 and the older style FC on the rest of the fleet, it goes fully flat, has the beverage bar, massage and more privacy (due the electronic privacy screen) than you'll find on equivalent carriers. It also has the on-demand ICE system that passengers are raving about. Feedback so far has been very, very positive about the new product including that from passengers who have also flown on the A345.

3-4-3 economy on the 777 is absolutely awful and I wont be paying to fly them again. Their A345 business class is wonderful, but if the standard on the 777-300ERs is lower, then why bother?

Emirates is really turning out to be all hype and very little substance.
