A little less than an hour ago, I had a chance to see a Saudi 747-200 come in for landing at JFK. I didn't know that Saudi was still flying this type and would have expected to see one of their 744's or even a 772ER. Was this 742 a Saudi VIP aircraft or was it being used in regular service?

I believe what you saw was Saudia Cargo's B747F. They operate 2-3 times per week to JFK. On occasion you'll also see the MD-11Fs.

Actually, it wasn't a Cargo 742, unless Saudi has a few that do not have the word Cargo painted on the side like the one shown in the photos above. As it flew over, I was specifically looking for signs that it was a cargo model, but i saw nothing to lead me to believe that it was. Plus, unless Saudi has some converted Freighters or unless they have 747-200C models, this aircraft had windows and doors on the side as well. I have seen the MD-11 a few times in the past, but this was the first time that i saw the 742 without any Cargo titles on it. Maybe it was a VIP aircraft. Were there any Saudi nationals coming to the US today?

Its cargo... 900 series are the cargo flights.

Also look at the Saudi Cargo web site. Shows SVA903 operating Thursdays on a JED-OST-JFK-IAH routing.
