I am trying to find a good itinerary for a trip to Perth, Australia from Kansai International Airport. I know that there are no direct flights and you would have to make a stop in NRT in order to fly to Perth. However, its always such a hastle of going north to HND from KIX and taking the bus to NRT and hopping on the QF. Yes, the A330 that QF scheduled seems attracting but I want to make an international stop and be able to earn miles on my JMB (Jal Mileage Bank) account with a decent connection somewhere in Asia or maybe take JL777 to BNE and transit there.
1. Can anyone tell me the least travel time to get to PER from KIX and being able to accumulate Jal miles?
2. Tell me about good airports in the Asia region that are good to transit in
3. How much time I would need to transfer realistically.
I tried searching on Amadeus, Travelocity, etc. But they don't give me accurate return schedules on July 8th. I am leaving on the 30th of June.

Not necessarily the best of connections, and also no JAL miles, but a very cost effective solution with the tempting option of making a stopover in Bali would be offered by Garuda Indonesia KIX-DPS-PER. Garuda has 5 weekly flights between KIX and DPS with A333s and 10 weekly B734 flights between DPS and PER. KIX-DPS-PER has very good connection times, but I would advize you to make a stop on the way back, as you would be looking at a 12-hour lay over. A two or three day stay in Bali could do no harm, could it?

Yes I would love to, except that my father has a medical conference on the 10th of July. It does sound attractive though.

Wow~ that's an extremely long flight on a B734 isn't it? Although the narrow body configuration might be more relaxing to go to the bathroom.
Quoting 6thfreedom (Reply 3): Again, not quite fitting all your criteria with JAL miles etc, but here are some options. HB, i couldn't find the GA services on 30 June, so perhaps it doesn't op that day
Thanks so much for your list. But isn't a 50 minute stop-over in BKK kind of risky? Or is it that smooth to make connections? I was thinking of the 1h 20 min connection with JL but is that realistic? I remember that there was quite a distance from the int'l terminal to the domestic terminal in BNE when I deboarded my plane there last time. Would you recommend a certain number of hours for connection times? 2-3 hours?
